CUT FLINT GLASS SUGAR BOWL

10" H., Polished pontil scarred base, acorn finial attached to the cover (2 different pieces of glass), and pedestal/foot attached to the bowl ( also 2 diff. pieces of glass). America (probably Pittsburgh), ca. mid 19th century. All pieces are blown separately and then fused to each other when the glass still molten hot creating the lid and then the bowl/base/pedistal; after this work was done, the piece was cut. Sparkling mint condition. An attractive piece of early tableware, LOTS OF VISIBLE HAND CRAFTING. There is a "ripple" in the glass on the rim of the bowl which is further testament to its age, a true sign of the early limitiations of glass production! Put your computer screen on high resolution to fully enjoy the sparkling beauty of this fine early tableware!
